UNREAL CGA

What if Unreal had been released for DOS, CGA, and 286-class machines?

> PROJECT

Unreal CGA is a free, unofficial fan-made project inspired by Unreal (1998), rebuilt as a CGA-style FMV/text adventure for old DOS hardware.

It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Epic Games.

> ORIGINAL GAME REQUIRED

Unreal CGA requires the original Unreal Gold to run.

Only the OldUnreal/Archive.org release is supported.

The original game must be installed on the same drive as Unreal CGA, in a folder named:

Unreal

Unreal CGA will not search other drives or folders.

> TARGET HARDWARE

Unreal CGA is tested not only in DOSBox and DOSBox-X, but also on real hardware:

  • 286 CPU: 10 MHz minimum, 16–20 MHz optimal
  • Original CGA card or clone
  • Sound Blaster or compatible
  • 1 MB RAM
  • Mouse
  • 4.2 GB of disk space

Due to its FMV-style structure, the full game is expected to require approximately 4.2 GB of disk space.

Because of this, DOS 7.1 or FreeDOS 1.4 and a single large FAT32 partition will be required.
